WhatsApp

How to Install WhatsApp on Your Phone

WhatsApp lets you send free messages and make free calls to family and friends anywhere in the world.

On an iPhone:

  1. Tap the App Store icon on your home screen (it looks like a blue square with an "A" on it)

  2. Tap the Search icon at the bottom of the screen

  3. Type WhatsApp in the search bar and tap Search

  4. Tap GET next to WhatsApp Messenger

  5. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password or use Face ID/Touch ID

  6. Wait for it to download — a circle will appear showing the progress

  7. When finished, tap OPEN

  8. Follow the on-screen steps to set up your account using your phone number

On an Android phone:

  1. Tap the Play Store icon on your home screen (it looks like a colourful triangle)

  2. Tap the Search bar at the top and type WhatsApp

  3. Tap WhatsApp Messenger from the results

  4. Tap the green Install button

  5. Wait for it to download and install

  6. Tap Open when it's ready

  7. Follow the on-screen steps to set up your account using your phone number

You're all set! WhatsApp is free to use as long as you're connected to Wi-Fi or have mobile data.

FaceTime

How to Install FaceTime on Your iPhone or iPad

FaceTime is Apple's free video and audio calling app. It only works between Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, or Mac).

Good news — FaceTime is already on your iPhone or iPad! You don't need to install it.

To find it:

  1. Look for the FaceTime icon on your home screen — it's green with a white video camera

  2. If you can't find it, swipe down from the middle of your screen and type FaceTime in the search bar

  3. Tap the app to open it

  4. Sign in with your Apple ID if asked

If FaceTime has been deleted:

  1. Tap the App Store (blue square with an "A")

  2. Tap Search at the bottom

  3. Type FaceTime and tap GET

  4. It will reinstall for free

⚠️ Please note: FaceTime is not available on Android phones. Android users can use WhatsApp, Zoom, or Google Meet for video calls instead.

Zoom

How to Install Zoom on Your Phone

Zoom lets you have video calls with one person or a whole group — great for family catch-ups and club meetings.

On an iPhone:

  1. Tap the App Store icon (blue square with an "A")

  2. Tap Search at the bottom of the screen

  3. Type Zoom and tap Search

  4. Tap GET next to Zoom - One Platform to Connect

  5. Wait for it to download

  6. Tap OPEN when finished

  7. Tap Sign Up to create a free account, or Sign In if you already have one

On an Android phone:

  1. Tap the Play Store icon (colourful triangle)

  2. Tap the Search bar and type Zoom

  3. Tap Zoom - One Platform to Connect from the results

  4. Tap Install

  5. Wait for it to download and install

  6. Tap Open

  7. Tap Sign Up to create a free account, or Sign In if you already have one

Tip: You don't need an account just to join a Zoom call someone else has set up — just tap the link they send you!

Google Meet

How to Install Google Meet on Your Phone

Google Meet is a free video calling app — great for calling family and friends who use Android phones or Gmail.

On an iPhone:

  1. Tap the App Store icon (blue square with an "A")

  2. Tap Search at the bottom

  3. Type Google Meet and tap Search

  4. Tap GET next to Google Meet

  5. Wait for it to download

  6. Tap OPEN

  7. Sign in with your Google account (this is the same email and password you use for Gmail)

On an Android phone:

  1. Google Meet may already be installed — look for a green and white video camera icon

  2. If it's not there, tap the Play Store (colourful triangle)

  3. Type Google Meet in the search bar

  4. Tap Install

  5. Tap Open when finished

  6. Sign in with your Google account

Don't have a Google account? Tap Create account when you open the app — it's free and only takes a few minutes.

Skype

How to Install Skype on Your Phone

Skype lets you make free video and voice calls and send messages to other Skype users around the world.

On an iPhone:

  1. Tap the App Store icon (blue square with an "A")

  2. Tap Search at the bottom

  3. Type Skype and tap Search

  4. Tap GET next to Skype

  5. Wait for it to download

  6. Tap OPEN

  7. Tap Sign in or create to set up your free account

On an Android phone:

  1. Tap the Play Store icon (colourful triangle)

  2. Type Skype in the search bar

  3. Tap Skype from the results

  4. Tap Install

  5. Tap Open when finished

  6. Tap Sign in or create to set up your account

Tip: If you already have a Microsoft account (for Outlook email or a Windows computer) you can use the same login for Skype — no need to create a new one!

Viber

How to Install Viber on Your Phone

Viber lets you make free calls, video calls, and send messages to other Viber users — even if they're on the other side of the world.

On an iPhone:

  1. Tap the App Store icon (blue square with an "A")

  2. Tap Search at the bottom

  3. Type Viber and tap Search

  4. Tap GET next to Viber

  5. Wait for it to download

  6. Tap OPEN

  7. Enter your phone number to create your account — Viber will send you a code by text to confirm it's you

On an Android phone:

  1. Tap the Play Store icon (colourful triangle)

  2. Type Viber in the search bar

  3. Tap Viber from the results

  4. Tap Install

  5. Tap Open when finished

  6. Enter your phone number and follow the steps to verify it

Good to know: Viber calls and messages are completely free between Viber users — you just need a Wi-Fi connection or mobile data.
