Google Meet
Google Meet Review — Free Video Calls for Android and Computer Users Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5
5/2/20262 min read
Our Verdict
Google Meet is a reliable, straightforward video calling app that is particularly well suited to Android phone users and anyone who already uses Gmail. One-to-one calls have no time limit, it works in any web browser without downloading anything, and if you already have a Google account you are ready to go immediately.
What is Google Meet?
Google Meet is Google's free video calling service. It works on Android phones, iPhones, and computers, and is tightly integrated with Gmail and other Google services. If you use Gmail regularly, Google Meet is one of the most convenient options available.
What We Like
No time limit on one-to-one calls Unlike Zoom, Google Meet has no time limit on calls between two people. You can chat for as long as you like completely free.
Already connected to Gmail If you use Gmail, Google Meet appears in the left-hand menu of your inbox. You can start a video call without even leaving your email.
No download needed on a computer On a laptop or desktop, Google Meet works entirely in your web browser. Just go to meet.google.com and you're ready to call.
Works on any device Like Zoom, Google Meet works on Android phones, iPhones, and computers — making it flexible for families with different devices.
Clean and simple interface Google Meet has a clean, uncluttered design that is easy to navigate — fewer buttons than Zoom which makes it less overwhelming.
What We Don't Like
Requires a Google account You need a Google account to start a call — though joining someone else's call can be done without one. Creating a Google account is free and straightforward but is an extra step.
Less well known Google Meet is less widely known than WhatsApp or FaceTime. You may need to encourage family members to use it rather than finding they're already on it.
Group call time limit Group calls with three or more people are limited to 60 minutes on the free plan — longer than Zoom's 40 minutes but still a limitation.
Who is Google Meet Best For?
Google Meet is ideal for you if:
You have an Android phone
You already use Gmail
You want unlimited time on one-to-one calls
You prefer to use a computer for video calls

Final Verdict
Google Meet is an excellent choice for Android users and anyone who lives in the Google ecosystem. The no time limit on one-to-one calls is a genuine advantage over Zoom. It loses a star only because it is less universally known than WhatsApp or FaceTime.
